Best of KingstonKingston Archaeological Centre Found by the Cataraqui Archaeological Research Foundation, this centre concentrates on the development and history of Southern Ontario over a span of 8000 years. Items of relevance include maps, illustrations, and excavated artifacts. Frontenac County Schools Museum Explore an early 1900s schoolroom, or tour the facility with the assistance of a costumed tour guide. An archival collection (late 19th-20th century) and public school elementary records are also on the site. International Hockey Museum Revel in the 'good old hockey game’ at this shrine devoted to one of Canada's favourite winter sports. Sweaters of past and current players, rare photographs and equipment are on exhibit, as well as some international items. Open mid-June until Labour Day (early September) or by appointment. Pump House Steam Museum Situated on the Kingston waterfront, the Pump House Steam Museum is for those who marvel in industrial advancements. Bellevue House National Historic Park Bellevue House served as a rental home to government officials, including Sir John A. MacDonald, Canada's first Prime Minister. Lake Ontario Park The Lake Ontario Amusement Park is located in the vicinity, and offers several rides and events. Camping is obtainable. |
