Bowring Park
Waterford Bridge Rd & Cowan Ave on the west end of town. Named for the wealthy merchant family that donated the west end land in 1911, Bowring Park features traditional English botanical gardens, pleasant open spaces, walking paths and a pond that is home to swans, geese and ducks.

East Coast Trail
This 520 km coastal and wilderness hiking trail runs from Topsail, north to Cape St. Francis, south to Cape Race and on to Trepassey. Individual walks range from easy rambles to wilderness challenges.

Bannerman Park
This lovely example of an inner-city Victorian park features gardens, stately trees, a bandstand and a swimming pool.

Avalon Wilderness Reserve
This 1,070 sq km reserve comprises one of North America's most southerly, unspoiled barrens. It is a sanctuary for a medley of wildlife and plant species. The caribou herd is Canada's most southerly, containing some of the world's largest caribou.

C.A. Pippy Park
This 1,343-hectare park has steep hills with woodlands and provide hiking trails, picnic sites, camping, a golf course and lounge and wintertime cross-country skiing.

Memorial University Botanical Gardens
The MUN Botanical Gardens are 100 acres of cultivated and natural habitat with an extensive rock garden featuring both limestone and acidic areas, alpine house, heritage garden, cottage garden, heather and rhododendron garden, peat beds, vegetable garden, wildlife garden and perennial border.

Court House
Opened in 1901, the Court House on Duckworth Street is an impressive Victorian-era stone building made with local granite and sandstone. The stonework was cleaned in 1988 and the neo-Romanesque Court House today looks very much as it did in 1901.

Colonial Building
The Colonial Building now houses the Provincial Archives of Newfoundland & Labrador, the Newfoundland Historical Society, and the Association of Newfoundland & Labrador Archivists. Reference room is open to the public year round.

Quidi Vidi Village
Quidi Vidi Village is a picturesque fishing village within the City of St. John's. While wandering through the narrow winding roads you can visit Mallard Cottage or you can walk the Quidi Vidi Rennies River Trail.
